Successful ultrasonic debridement is largely impacted by the three As… Angulation, Adaptation and Activation. Understanding and applying subtle differences of ultrasonic units and inserts and tips can significantly impact your debridement outcomes. Using 'unplugged' piezoelectric tips and magnetostrictive inserts, participants will work with anatomically correct typodonts to compare and contrast the two technologies and master the three As. Course Objectives:
Increase removal of calculus and biofilm by identifying the most safe and effective piezo tips and magentostrictive inserts for calculus removal, the removal/disruption of biofilm and the preservation of root structure.
Identify technique oversights that hinder clinical outcomes by identifying technique errors common to piezo and magnetostrictive ultrasonics and demonstrate how to correct them.
Discuss how technology plus clinician technique equals improved client comfort by listing a variety of clinical “do’s and don’ts” for maximizing client comfort during an ultrasonic debridement procedure.
This course is a 3-hour course 2:00-5:30 p.m. with a 30 minute break from 3:30-4:00 p.m.
